PHOENIX, Ariz. --- UC Irvine had a successful weekend winning 15 of 18 matches they took part in over the weekend at the Grand Canyon University Invite in Phoenix, Ariz.
The 'Eaters brought home a pair of titles beginning with junior Nico Mertens who went 4-0 to take the Flight 2 singles crown. He posted four straight-set wins including a 6-2,6-4 win over Grant Taylor in the final.
Elsewhere, Tyler Pham and Jonathan Hammel ran the table in doubles action winning that title with an 8-5 defeat of the duo of Pousite-Sungao from Nevada.
Hammel added to his weekend by winning three of four in Flight 2 singles while Pham and Caryl Hernandez each went 2-1 in Flights 1 and 3, respectively.
