Box Score

LONG BEACH, Calif. --- UC Irvine and Long Beach State battled it out Sunday night in Long Beach for a 1-1 draw in the year's first meeting in the Duke's Black and Blue Rivalry.

The Anteaters (4-6-3) grabbed the lead in the 24th minute as Cami Privett's header found Laura McGrail 25 yards out, and she would crack a shot over 49er keeper Ashton McKeown and in high off the right post to give UCI the 1-0 lead.

UCI held the advantage in shots, 6-3, at the half along with the 1-0 score.

Long Beach State (5-5-5, 1-1-2) responded in the second half with the first four shots in the second half including the equalizer in the 67th minute. Jessica Vincent buried a free kick from the top of the box inside the left post to make it 1-1.

The 49ers got a similar opportunity in the 76th minute, but Ashley Gonzales' free kick nicked the left post and slid wide as the squads remained tied as regulation ended.

Overtime saw a pair of shots from each from each side, but nothing gave and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

The 'Eaters claimed their first point of conference play, third draw on the year. They dominated the corner kick stat with 13 to LBSU's three. They also put eight of their 12 shots on frame.

Jenn Randazzo finished with three saves. McGrail tops the squad now with four goals and 10 points. Privett's assist was her first on the year with five points.

The Anteaters return home for their next two matches as they host Cal Poly, Friday, Oct. 17, and UCSB, Sunday, Oct. 19.
