IRVINE, Calif. --- Junior Kaycee Holcomb and senior Carlotta Pham led UC Irvine in its season-opening adidas/UCI Invitational Saturday morning.
Holcomb placed sixth in 18:39.9 and Pham was seventh in 18:41.8 over the 5,000-meter race that was won by Hannah Kellerman of The Master's College in 17:51.4.
UCI sophomore Makenna McGrann finished 24th of 134 runners with a time of 19:33.4, Marthie Ponty was 31st (19:47.2), Hannah Ruby 35th (19:50.4), Carolin Haney 37th (19:55.0) and Marisa Gonzalez 40th in 19:58.0.
The Anteaters finished fourth in the 13-team meet with 95 points. San Diego State was first with 41, The Masters's second with 77 and Cal Lutheran third with 84.
UCI competes at the Aztec Invitational in San Diego Sept. 21.
