Aurora, OR -- UC Irvine is tied for second on day one of a shortened Rose City Collegiate women's golf tournament at the Langdon Farms Golf Club.
UCI and Gonzaga each shot a 299 to tie for second place after one round, while Oregon State leads the tournament with a score of 293.
The 15 teams battled rain and heavy winds that cut play from 36 holes to 18 holes on Monday. The Portland area had experienced the wettest September in history with more than six inches of rain, most of which arrived over the past four days closing Langdon Farms on Sunday, due to torrential rain, preventing practice rounds.
The weather did not bother UCI sophomore Luciane Lee who carded a one-under par 71 and is tied for second with Emelie Lundstrom of San Francisco. Oregon State's Anica Yoo leads the field following a round of 69 Monday.
Michelle Yang, Ronnie Valerio and Sara Banke each fired a 76 and are tied for 17th, while Kaley In shot a 82 and is tied for 60th.
The tournament concludes with 18 holes tomorrow.
