AUSTIN, Texas --- Lacey Surak and Itos Aikhionbare saw their stellar 2013 seasons come to an end Saturday in the NCAA West Preliminary Round at Austin, Texas.

Surak, a junior, had a top mark of 148-0 (45.13 meters) in the javelin throw and did not advance out the prelims.  Her mark was 20th overall in the field of 48 competitors.

Aikhionbare, a sophomore, had a best mark of 49-4 ¼ (15.04 meters) in the shot put as she was competing in her second event of the weekend.  Her mark was 35th overall.

Surak was the Big West Conference champion in the javelin this season and her mark of 149-2 at the Beach Invitational April 20 ranks No. 2 in UCI history.

Aikhionbare set the school record in the discus throw with a mark of 169-5 at the Beach Invitational and her mark of 51-5 in the shot put at the Oxy Invitational May 4 is second-best in the Anteater record book.
