San Luis Obispo, Calif. -- The UC Irvine women's golf team is in third place after the first round of the Big West Championships held at the San Luis Obispo Golf and Country Club.
The Anteaters shot a 311 over the first 18 holes and trail tournament leader UC Davis (289) and Long Beach State (297). Cal State Fullerton is in fourth (312), Cal State Northridge is fifth (318) followed by Cal Poly (319), UC Riverside (325) and Hawaii (326).
Senior Michelle Park is tied for sixth with a score of 75, while junior Ronnie Valerio is tied for ninth at 76. Freshman Luciane Lee and junior Sara Banke are tied for 21st with a total of 80 and sophomore Brenna Carlson is 35th (83).
UCI will play with UC Davis and Long Beach State during the second round begining at 10:30 a.m. with Brenna Carlson.
