SANTA CRUZ, Calif. --- The UC Irvine men's golf team tied for 11th in the 67th Western Intercollegiate that concluded Sunday at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz.
California won the 14-team tournament with a 54-hole score of 1,051, UCLA was second at 1,064 and Stanford finished third at 1,081. UCI and Fresno State tied for 11th place with totals of 1,118.
UCLA's Pedro Figueiredo claimed medalist honors with a 6-under total of 204 after a final-round 68.
Junior Allan Jun led UCI with a round of 72 Sunday and placed 44th at 223 while junior Travis Russell (78) and sophomore Pete Fernandez (80) tied for 54th place at 225.
Freshman Jacob Schulze shot a 73 in the last round and finished 59th at 226, senior Michael Yang (76) placed 63rd at 227 and senior Mickey Chan (77) was 80th at 234.
UCI competes in the Big West Conference Championship Apr. 28-30 at the Country Club at Soboba Springs in San Jacinto.
