UC Irvine Travels To Juli Inkster Invitaional

UCI will participate in the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational Monday and Tuesday (March 4-5) at the Almaden Golf and Country Club in San Jose, Calif.

The two-day tournament features 14 teams, including four top-20 teams according to the Golfstat rankings released on February 27. California, Colorado State, Fresno State, Idaho, Kansas State, North Carolina State (17), Oregon, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Stanford (14), UC Davis (13), Washington (9) as well as the host Spartans.

Both days begin with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start, playing 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. 

The Almaden Golf and Country Club plays at a Par 72 - 6,180 yards

The Anteaters were fifth at last year's event with a total of 909 (301-303-305).

UCI finished second at the UC Irvine Invitational presented by Kia.

The Anteaters second place finish is the team's highest of the year after placing third at The Gold Rush Feb. 11-12. UCI shot a three-round score of 907 (308-301-298).

Senior Michelle Park led UCI with a two-day total of 221 (77-71-73), her second top five performance of the year.

Junior Ronnie Valerio, who has placed in the top 10 in each of the last two tournament, ended in fifth place with a score of 223 (72-75-76).

Freshman Luciane Lee recorded a team-low 71 on the final round and ended the tournament tied for 20th with a three-round total of 231 (80-80-71).  She birdied five of seven holes to help her shoot a 71.
