LA JOLLA, Calif. --- UC Irvine turned in some solid performances on the last day of competition at the Cal/Nevada Championships in La Jolla Saturday.
Sophomore Itos Aikhionbare finished fourth in the shot put with a mark of 48-8 ¼ for the Anteaters' top place of the day.
Sophomore Paige Bushnell led a trio of Anteaters in the 400-meter hurdles final with a fifth-place showing of 61.78 for the 10th-fastest time in school history.
Freshman Kaulyn Lee-McNeill was sixth in 61.94 and senior KayC Wharton eighth in 67.43.
Senior Samia Sailinuu placed eighth in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:35.59.
The Anteaters' 4x400 relay of Lacey Surak, Lauren Hackney, Lee-McNeill and Wharton finished sixth with a time of 3:50.04.
UCI finished ninth of the 22 scoring teams with 38 points.
Next on the schedule for UCI is the Big West Challenge Cup at Anteater Stadium April 12. Joining UCI in the competition will be Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State and UC Santa Barbara. Field events are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. with the first event on the track at 6:00 p.m.
