Sam Hyams Finishes 3rd in 1500 at Cal/Nevada Championships

 

LA JOLLA, Calif. --- Senior Sam Hyams led UC Irvine with a third-place finish in the 1500 meters at the Cal/Nevada Championships Saturday in La Jolla.

Hyams recorded a time of 3:56.71 and junior Amir Shirif was sixth in 3:57.73.

Sophomore Mason Miller finished eighth in the discus throw at 156-9, junior James Douglas placed ninth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.58 and sophomore Alex Campbell tied for ninth place in the high jump with a mark of 6-0 ¾.

The 'Eaters were 11th of the 21 scoring teams with 29.50 points.

UCI returns to action April 12 hosting Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State and UC Santa Barbara in the Big West Challenge Cup at Anteater Stadium.  Field events are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. with the first event on the track at 6:00 p.m.
