LA JOLLA, Calif. --- Sophomore Mason Miller posted UCI's best finish Friday on the first day of the Cal/Nevada Championships at La Jolla.

Miller placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 53-4 ¼ to earn six team points for the 'Eaters.

Junior Alex Tebbe placed fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:43.12 to gain five team points for UCI.

Junior Mike Kennedy picked up four points in the long jump with a sixth-place mark of 22-6 ¼.

Junior James Douglas advanced to Saturday's final in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.85 in Friday's preliminaries.

Action wraps up Saturday at UC San Diego's Triton Track & Field Stadium.
