IRVINE, Calif. ---  Sophomore Itos Aikhionbare had UC Irvine's top finish on day one of the Spring Break Invitational at Anteater Stadium Friday.

Aikhionbare finished 10th of 31 competitors in the hammer throw with a mark of 158-6 (48.31m), which ranks No. 3 in UCI history .

Freshman Bridget Devaney placed 18th with a mark of 137-11 (42.04m), which puts her eighth all-time in the Anteater record book.

Nicole Mendoza led UCI in the 5,000 meters with an 18th-place time of 18:37.21.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Cornell's Rachel Sorna smashed the meet and stadium records with a winning time of 9:50.39.

Action continues Saturday with field events beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the first track event at 12 noon.
