CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. --- UC Irvine leads the field after Sunday's first round of The Folino Invitational at Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms.
The Anteaters had an opening round of 2-over par 290 to lead second-place Long Beach State (294) by four shots. Sacramento State is third at 297 in the nine-team tournament.
UCI sophomore Pete Fernandez and junior Travis Russell each shot opening rounds of 1-under 71 at the "Ike" Eisenhower Course and are tied for third.
Junior Allan Jun and freshman Jacob Schulze are tied for 10th at 74 and senior Michael Yang is 34th after shooting a 78.
Senior Mickey Chan, playing as an individual, shot a 74 and also is 10th.
Raymond Ho of Long Beach State and Ryan Williams of Sacramento State are the leaders after shooting rounds of 3-under 69.
The tournament continues with 18 holes each on Monday and Tuesday.
