UC Irvine Falls at No. 1 Pacific, 16-8

 

STOCKTON, Calif. --- Senior Bojan Hrlec scored three goals, but ninth-ranked UC Irvine fell to No. 1 Pacific, 16-8, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game at Stockton Saturday.

Senior Mitch Wise added two goals for the 'Eaters (12-11, 0-6 MPSF). 

After Wise opened the scoring early in the first quarter, Pacific scored the next five goals.  The Tigers (19-3, 6-1) then outscored UCI 5-2 in the second period to take a 10-3 lead at the half.

The 'Eaters scored the first three goals of the third quarter to pull within 10-6 before Krisztian Laczkovics and Balazs Erdelyi scored back-to-back goals for Pacific for a 12-6 lead entering the final quarter. 

Erdelyi scored a game-high six goals and Laczkovics added five for Pacific.

UCI is at No. 5 California Sunday morning for an MPSF game at 11:00 that will be carried on the Pac-12 Networks.
