ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Itos Aikhionbare led the UC Irvine women's indoor track and field team Saturday in the Cherry & Silver Invitational at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Aikhionbare finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 46-11, over four feet past her top indoor mark from a year ago.
UCI's Lacey Surak placed 19th with a mark of 38-6 ¾ and Melanie Speech was 28th at 34-3 ½.
The Anteaters' Chelsea Schneider had a strong showing in the 800 meters, finishing ninth with a time of 2:20.60.
In the 200 meters, Surak was 48th in 26.47, Tatiana Martinez placed 60th in 27.42 and Charity Lyons 62nd in 27.56.
UCI's 4x400 "A" relay finished 13th in 3:58.41 and the "B" relay was 19th in 4:07.06.
The Anteaters are back in action Friday and Saturday at the Boise State Jacksons Open in Nampa, Idaho.
