IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine women's water polo is coming off an impressive 2012 campaign where it finished fourth at the NCAA Championship, its highest finish in program history. The 'Eaters look to ride that wave in the 2013 season starting out ranked sixth in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) preseason poll.
UCI began last season ranked sixth as well which was its highest preseason ranking. The Anteaters are also ranked fifth in waterpoloplanet.com's preseason poll. They were tied for fifth a year ago in that poll.
The team will kick off its season with an alumni match set for 12:00 p.m. at the Anteater Aquatics Complex on Saturday, January 19th. Alums from the past will scrimmage and take part in the festivities alongside the 2013 'Eaters. Come out and be a part of the program in ringing in the 2013 season.
