Long Beach Open Amateur Qualifying Tournament Scores
LONG BEACH, Calif. --- UC Irvine's Ryan Knapp and Pete Fernandez qualified for the 24th annual Long Beach Open after finishing first and second, respectively, in the tournament's amateur qualifier Wednesday at Recreation Park Golf Course.
Knapp, a junior for the 'Eaters, fired a 9-under par 63 and Fernandez, a sophomore, shot 7-under 65 to lead the list of seven qualifiers.
The Long Beach Open is July 26-29 at El Dorado Park and Skylinks Golf Courses. The tournament features 72 holes of stroke play with the field cut to the low 60 scores and ties following 36 holes.
Knapp is playing this weekend in the SCGA Amateur Championship at Big Canyon Country Club and Fernandez finished fourth in the Long Beach City Championship earlier this month.
Pete Fernandez shot 7-under 65 in Wednesday's qualifier.
