Meet Record for Charles Jock

 

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine senior Charles Jock took down a 10-year meet record in the 800 meters in the 18th annual adidas/Steve Scott Invitational at Anteater Stadium Sunday.

Jock had a winning time of 1:46.59, breaking the previous meet record of 1:46.82 set by Khadevis Robinson in 2002.

Jock also ran a 45.7 anchor leg on UCI's winning 4x400 relay that posted a season-best time of 3:09.89.  Dominic Jester, Jacob Yowell and Chris Carson ran the first three legs of the relay.

Yowell placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.12 and Stephen Brown was fourth in the pole vault at 15-7.

Tommy Newton-Neal finished sixth in the 1500 meters in 3:51.44 while Andrew Snyder was ninth (3:52.44) and Nick Osborne 10th (3:52.92).

Other top-10 finishes for the 'Eaters included Cam Mitchell placing seventh in the 800 (1:51.59) and Trevor Wightman finishing ninth in the 400-meter hurdles (53.68).

Other top-10s in field events included Alex Campbell eighth in the high jump (6-2 ¾), Trevor Lawrence eighth in the shot put (47-7 ¾) and Mike Kennedy ninth in the long jump (22-11).

UCI hosts the Big West Conference Multi-Event Championships Friday and Saturday, and the Big West Track & Field Championships May 11-12 at Anteater Stadium.
