LA QUINTA, Calif. --- UC Irvine sits in fourth place after the Sunday's first round of the Big West Conference Championship at the La Quinta Mountain Course.

Pacific tops the nine-team field with a 6-under 282.  UC Davis is second at 288, Cal State Fullerton third at 290 and UCI fourth at 291.

Anteater sophomore Allan Jun shot a 1-under 71 for sixth place.  He was 4-under through 15 holes before he hit a rough two-hole stretch, carding a triple bogey on the par-3 16^th and bogeying the par-4 17^th before closing out his round with a birdie on the par-5 18^th hole.

Redshirt freshman Pete Fernandez shot an even-par 72 for 10^th place, carding back-to-back birdies on the 17^th and 18^th holes.

Junior Michael Yang is in 16^th place after an opening-round 73, redshirt sophomore Ryan Knapp is 27^th following a 75 and junior Mickey Chan shot 80 for 41^st place.

Alex Edfort of Pacific tops the leaderboard with a 4-under 68 Sunday.

The tournament continues with 18 holes each on Monday and Tuesday.
