IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine redshirt freshman Pete Fernandez fired a 2-under par 69 in Tuesday's final round to finish fourth in the 32nd annual Anteater Invitational at Shady Canyon Golf Club.
Fernandez finished the tournament with a 54-hole total of 214 in recording the best collegiate finish of his young career. The 'Eaters placed fifth in the team competition with a three-round score of 884.
Long Beach State won the title with a score of 862, St. John's was second at 870 and San Jose State third at 874.
Kevin Lim from Long Beach State was medalist with a 1-under total of 212 after shooting 70 in the final round. He edged teammate Kevin Roy and San Jose State's Jay Myers by one shot as they finished at even-par 213.
UCI sophomore Allan Jun, with a 73 Tuesday, placed 14th at 220. Junior Michael Yang shot 76 and finished 17th at 221, junior Mickey Chan (81) was 32nd at 229 and redshirt sophomore Ryan Knapp (82) 41st at 235.
Competing as individuals, Zack Duan (73) finished 28th at 227, Bhuvan Potluri (74) was 32nd at 229 and Jae Kang (84) 46th at 239.
The 'Eaters compete in the Big West Conference Championship Sunday through Tuesday (Apr. 29-May 1) on the Mountain Course at La Quinta Resort.
