Charles Rules in 400 at Cal/Nevada Championships

CLAREMONT, Calif. --- UC Irvine senior Charles Jock captured first place in the 400 meters Sunday at the Cal/Nevada Championships.

Jock won the race in 46.78 seconds at the Burns Track & Field Complex.  He ran the third leg on UCI's 4x400 relay that placed fourth in 3:13.27.  Dominic Jester, Trevor Wightman and Cam Mitchell competed on the other legs.

Stephen Brown tied for second place in the pole vault at a height of 15-7.

Wightman placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.92 seconds and Riley Martin was fifth in the 1500 meters in 3:53.98.  Nick Osborne in sixth (3:54.18) and Tommy Newton-Neal in ninth (3:55.77) also scored points in the 1500.

Freshman Mason Miller finished ninth in the shot put with a mark of 52-9 ½ for UCI, which finished seventh in the two-day meet with 59.50 points.
