IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine senior Jacob Yowell had a record-setting day in the Spring Break Invitational at Anteater Stadium Saturday.
Yowell set meet records in winning the 110-meter hurdles in 13.91 and the 400-meter hurdles in 51.81. His time in the 110 hurdles ranks second all-time at UCI.
Yowell ran the first leg of the 4x400 relay that finished second in a season-best time of 3:12.50. Cam Mitchell, Dominic Jester and Charles Jock ran the final three legs. Yowell also ran the anchor leg on the 4x100 relay that finished fourth in 41.29. Mike Kennedy, Chris Carson and Jester ran the first three legs.
Jock captured first place in the 400 meters with a time of 47.07 and he ran the anchor leg on the 4x400 relay.
Freshman Riley Martin placed second in the 1500 meters in 3:53.49 followed by teammate Nick Osborne in third at 3:54.01.
Alex Campbell finished third in the high jump at 6-4 ¾ while Kennedy was fourth in the long jump at 23-3 ½ and fifth in the 100 meters in 10.75. Stephen Brown placed fifth in the pole vault at 15-11.
Mitchell was sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.94 and Mason Miller placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 53-2 ¼.
Andrew Snyder finished seventh in the 1500 meters (3:55.66) and Amir Shirif was ninth (3:56.40). Carson was ninth in the 100 meters (10.89) and Trevor Wightman placed 10th in the 400 hurdles (54.56).
The Anteaters compete in the Cal/Nevada Championships at Claremont next Saturday and Sunday.
