DAVIS II NAMED ESPN ZONE ANAHEIM ANTEATER OF THE WEEK

Irvine, Calif. -- UC Irvine men's basketball player Will Davis II has been named this week's ESPN Zone Anaheim Anteater of the Week.

The sophomore forward from Sacramento pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds Saturday night, in the UCI's 58-51 (Dec. 12) victory against Fresno State. The victory was UCI's first road win of the season and the first non-conference road victory since Jan. 19 2011. Davis II also added 6 points and 2 blocks. Last night (Dec. 18) Davis chipped in with 7 rebounds and 6 points against LSU. For the season he is averaging 6.3 rebounds per game, which ties him with teammate Adam Folker. Folker and Davis II are currently in the top 15 in the Big West Conference for rebounds, while Davis II also leads the Big West in blocked shots with 2.5.  As a team the Anteaters lead the Big West in blocked shots with 62 (5.6 Avg/G).

UCI takes on USC Thursday night at 8:00 at the Galen Center (Pac-12 Networks) and the 'Eaters open the Big West Conference Dec. 29, hosting UC Davis at 7:00 p.m. in the Bren Center.
