PRINCEVILLE, Hawaii – The UC Irvine men's golf team is in second place entering Wednesday's final round of the Warrior Wave Intercollegiate at Makai Golf Club in Princeville, Hawaii.
UCI is at 6-under par 570 and trails Baylor (567) by just three shots following Tuesday's second round. East Tennessee State and North Carolina State are tied for third at 571 in the 16-team tournament.
Albin Choi of North Carolina State is the individual leader with a 36-hole score of 7-under par 137 after shooting a 4-under 68 Tuesday.
UCI senior Michael Yang shot his second straight round of 2-under 70 and is in fifth place at 4-under 140 while sophomore Pete Fernandez eagled the par-5 18th hole in shooting a 1-under 71 Tuesday and is in 12th at 143.
Junior Travis Russell, who shot a 76 in the second round, and junior Allan Jun (74) are tied for 29th place at 147.
Freshman Jacob Schulze bounced back from a opening-round 81 to fire a 3-under 69 Tuesday and is 46th at 150.
