PRINCEVILLE, Hawaii – UC Irvine is in third place after the opening round of the Warrior Wave Intercollegiate at Makai Golf Club in Princeville, Hawaii.
UCI and East Tennessee State are tied at 286 with Georgia Southern in first at 283 and North Carolina State second at 284 in the 16-team tournament.
Three players are tied for the individual lead after rounds of 4-under 68 --- Amol Mahal of UC Santa Barbara, Adrian Meonk from East Tennessee State and Korey Ward from Xavier.
UCI senior Michael Yang shot a 2-under 70 Monday and is ninth place while junior Travis Russell shot 1-under 71 and is 13th.
Sophomore Pete Fernandez carded an even-par 70 and is in 19th place,
junior Allan Jun shot a 73 and is 24th while freshman Jacob Schulze shot 81 and is in 74th place.
The tourney continues with 18 holes each on Tuesday and Wednesday.
