SAMMAMISH, Wash. --- The UC Irvine women's golf team had a strong start in the first round of the 31^st Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational that began Monday at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash.

UCI is second in the 16-team tournament with a first-round total of 297, four shots behind leader Washington (293).  Stanford is in third at 299.

Cyd Okino of Washington is the individual leader after shooting a 2-under 70 Monday.

The Anteaters' Ronnie Valerio is in sixth place after opening with a 73 while Luciane Lee is 11^th at 74.

Michelle Park and Michelle Yang are tied for 15^th place after each shot 75, and Sara Banke is 64^th following an 82.

The tournament continues with 18 holes each on Tuesday and Wednesday.
