Irvine, Calif. -- UC Irvine women's soccer player Natalia Ledezma has been named this week's ESPN Zone Anaheim Anteater of the Week.

The junior midfielder/attacker from La Mirada, California was a key participant in this past weekend's Big West opening weekend victories. Ledezma kicked off the weekend by scoring the first goal in Friday night's Big West opener against Cal State Fullerton. Her goal gave UCI the early lead in the 5th minute, which they held onto to defeat Cal State Fullerton by a score of 3-1. On Sunday, Ledezma was another key contributor to UCI's dominating performance over UC Riverside, where UCI held a 22-7 shot advantage over the Highlanders. Ledezma finished with the team leading 7 shots in the 2-1 overtime victory over UC Riverside.

Overall, UCI sits on top of the Big West standings with a 2-0-0 conference record, and they return home this weekend for a pair of matches. Cal Poly visits Friday, October 5th for a 7:00 p.m. match followed by UCSB on Sunday, October 7th at 1:00 p.m.
