UC Irvine Records Fifth-Place Finish at Bill Cullum Invitational

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. --- The UC Irvine men's golf team finished fifth in the Bill Cullum Invitational that concluded Tuesday at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley.

The 'Eaters shot 3-under 285 in the final round to record a 54-hole total of 872.  San Diego won the 20-team tournament at 850, Arizona State was second at 859, Washington State third at 866 and Cal State Fullerton fourth at 868.

Tuesday morning began with the second round that was suspended Monday due to darkness and the final round followed.

UCI junior Travis Russell shot a 4-under 68 in the final round and finished third with a 7-under total of 209.  Arizona State's Jon Rahm Rodriguez was medalist at 12-under 204 and Grant Forrest from San Diego was second at 9-under 207.

Allan Jun of UCI finished 19th at 220 after a final-round 71, Michael Yang also shot a 71 and placed 23rd at 221, Pete Fernandez (75) was 29th at 222 and Ryan Knapp (80) placed 98th at 241.

The 'Eaters return to action Nov. 5-7 in the Warrior Wave Invitational at Makai Golf Club in Princeville, Hawaii.
