NAMPA, Idaho --- Junior Ericka Nowell led the UC Irvine women's indoor track and field team in its season opener at the Bronco Invitational in Nampa, Idaho, Saturday.

Nowell placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 58.59 and she ran the second leg on UCI's 4x400-meter relay that finished fourth in 3:58.76. 

Other members of that relay were Amber Middleton, Kelly Collins and Kira Helmer.

Middleton placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.83 while Marie Brashears finished seventh in the 800 meters in 2:23.37.

Sanmisola George was 10th in the 60 meters in 7.95 for another Anteater top-10 finish.

UCI competes in the Lobo Invitational at Albuquerque, N.M., next Saturday (Jan. 28).
