IRVINE, Calif. --- Trent Baxter's five goals led 10 UC Irvine players who scored in a 28-8 win over Fresno Pacific in the opening game of the UCI Invitational Saturday at Anteater Pool.

Mitch Wise, Sam Figueroa, Alan Robertson and Kyle Kittlitz added four goals apiece for the sixth-ranked 'Eaters in their season opener.

Mateja Maksimovic had three goals for Fresno Pacific, which led 2-1 midway through the first quarter before UCI outscored the Sunbirds, 12-3, the remainder of the first half to lead 13-5 at the break.  Baxter had three goals for the 'Eaters in the second quarter.

Figueroa and Kittlitz scored two goals each in the third quarter when UCI had an 8-2 advantage over Fresno Pacific.

Wise and Robertson tallied two goals apiece in the final quarter when the 'Eaters scored seven goals to the Sunbirds' one.

Alex Kazmier started in goal for UCI and had six saves.  Michael Bailey recorded nine stops in the second half.

The 'Eaters face Redlands Sunday morning at 8:00 on the second day of the UCI Invitational.
