Melissa Mead Paces UC Irvine at Stanford Invitational

 

Final Women's Results

STANFORD, Calif. --- UC Irvine senior Melissa Mead was the top Anteater runner at the 38th Stanford University Invitational Saturday.

Mead finished 69th of 278 runners with a time of 22:12 over 6,000 meters at the Stanford Golf Course.

Kathy Kroeger led a group of five Stanford runners in the top 10 with a winning time of 20:07.

UCI freshman Kaycee Holcomb placed 126th in 22:56, freshman Marthie Ponty was 157th (23:15) and junior Chloe Fata 179th (23:27).

Junior Maggie Newton-Neal finished 190th in 23:38, senior Maggie McDuffee was 196th (23:43), junior Shelley Foerster placed 204th (23:54) and sophomore Mary Follo 221st (24:16).

Stanford won the 32-team meet with 24 points, UC Davis was second with 138 and Cal Poly third with 139. 

UCI, which finished 22nd with 607 points, competes in the Bill Dellinger Invitational at Springfield, Ore., next Saturday.
