Eric Perrine Joins UC Irvine Women's Volleyball Staff

IRVINE, Calif. --- Eric Perrine has been hired as an assistant coach with the UC Irvine women's volleyball program, as announced by head coach Paula Weishoff.

Perrine comes to UCI from Boston College, where he served as the program's recruiting coordinator as well as working with the setters and hitters.

"I am excited to have Eric join our staff as our new assistant coach at UCI," said Weishoff. "He will be training our setters and running our offense. Eric's overall volleyball IQ is amazing as he started as a setter, middle, and outside hitter in college as well as setting and playing outside internationally. His energy, enthusiasm and work ethic will definitely be contagious and help us to compete in the practice gym and on the court next year. Eric will also be working with our alumni so I'd like to encourage our alums to contact him and meet our newest Anteater," said Weishoff.

Prior to working with the Eagles, Perrine was an assistant coach at UC San Diego in 2010, where he helped guide the Tritons to a No. 2 ranking in the AVCA Division II Coaches Poll. UCSD was awarded a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and swept San Francisco State in the first round before dropping to Cal State L.A.

Perrine also was an assistant coach with the UCSD men's team from 2008-2010, where he assisted in individual and team practices, focusing on the setters and middle blockers. He also has experience overseas, spending a year in Denmark as the head coach for SK Aarhus.

He played professionally from 2003-04 for SK Aarhus and was a collegian at UC San Diego. At San Diego, he was a four-year starter as a setter, middle blocker and outside hitter and led the team to the Division III Championship in 2000. Perrine was a three-time team captain and was voted the team's Most Valuable Player twice.
