SAN JOSE del CABO, Mexico --- The UC Irvine men's golf team is in ninth place following Thursday's first round of the Cabo Collegiate at Club Campestre Golf Course in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico.

UCI shot 301 in the opening round.  Arkansas leads the 12-team tournament at 281, Saint Mary's is second at 292 and Southeastern Louisiana third at 293.

Anteater sophomore Allan Jun shot a 74 and is in 20th place while Ryan Knapp is in 25th after a 75.

Pete Fernandez and Michael Yang are tied for 33rd place after rounds of 76 while Bhuvan Potluri is 57th at 81.

Sebastian Cappelen of Arkansas, Ji Hwan Park from USF and Tyler Torano of Loyola Marymount are tied for the individual lead at 3-under 68.

The tournament continues with 18 holes each on Friday and Saturday.
