UC Irvine Falls to USC, 11-5, at SoCal Tournament

 

LONG BEACH, Calif. --- Seventh-ranked UC Irvine trailed 7-1 at halftime and could not close the gap in an 11-5 loss to No. 1 USC Saturday in the SoCal Tournament at Long Beach State's Campus Pool.

Mitch Wise scored a pair of third-quarter goals to lead the 'Eaters (9-5), who fell to the Trojans for the third consecutive Saturday.  Sam Figueroa, Derrik Jarvis and Jacob Mourer added one goal each.

Redshirt freshman Michael Bailey recorded eight saves in goal.

Kosta Genidounias had three goals as nine different USC players scored in the game.

The 'Eaters face fifth-ranked Pepperdine in a fifth-place bracket game Sunday at 8:30 a.m. at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos.
