Isaac Powell - Men’s Soccer
August 26, 2026
Fifth-year senior Isaac Powell has been named Anteater of the Week after his performance in UC Irvine's season-opening 3-3 draw against No. 19 Oregon State.
The game was back-and-forth throughout with the teams knotted at two goals each until a wild sequence in the 66th minute. The Anteaters moved the ball up the sideline into the attacking third, eventually finding Shane Kaemerle in the box where his shot was blocked. It came right back to Kaemerle and his second attempt hit the cross bar. An OSU defender then cleared the ball, but Powell was able to control it well outside the 18-yard box and delivered a perfect left-footed shot from distance inside the post to give the 'Eaters the 3-2 lead.
The Beavers eventually tied the game at three apiece in the 77th minute for the draw. Powell played 83 minutes and finished with three shots.
The Anteaters' (1-0-1) next match is their first on the road as they head to Pacific on Sunday, August 30, with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.

Hailey Clingan - Women’s Soccer
August 19, 2026
Junior Hailey Clingan has been named Anteater of the Week after her performance in UC Irvine's season-opening 1-1 draw against Utah Tech.
The visiting Trailblazers took the early 1-0 advantage just 64 seconds into the game.
UCI continued to fight throughout the game, backed by strong defense from Clingan, who saved a ball off the goal line in the 47th minute to keep it a one-goal deficit.
In the 76th minute, Clingan sent a free kick from long range into the box. Teammate Allison Rabe and a Utah Tech defender went up for it with the defender reaching it just ahead of her goalkeeper and heading it into goal to tie the match up.
A team captain this year, Clingan started and played all 90 minutes on the back line, finishing with one shot.
UC Irvine is back in action at top-ranked Stanford on Sunday, August 23rd.
