IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine men's golf has signed Rei Harashima and Andy Zou to National Letters of Intent.
"We are excited to welcome Andy and Rei to our Anteater family," UCI head coach Paul Smolinski said. "They are both seasoned competitors with extensive tournament experience, and I expect them to play important roles in the future success of our program."
Rei Harashima ranks 23rd on the Southern California PGA Toyota Tour Cup. He has four top-10 finishes in 2021, including a win at Los Serranos where he carded a 6-under 138 (71-67). Harashima also tied for sixth at the 2021 U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifying in Omaha, Nebraska. He is currently a senior at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista.
Andy (Yaoting) Zou is a four-year letterwinner and team captain at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. Zou ranks among the top-35 on the SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup. He recently competed in the 2021 Southern California Junior Amateur, tying for 12th overall. Earlier this year, Zou also earned his first TTC event win, coming in first at Cross Creek Golf Club, while adding top-10 showings at Desert Willow (6th) and Coral Mountain (10th).
Harashima and Zou have also competed in American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) events. Over the summer, they both tied for third at the FOX Sports Junior at Mission Viejo.
