Davidson always made me laugh with his first comments of the day. Always walking up to the group, with an observation that always put people at ease, and a smile of their face. Then, Sven switched gears into one of the most intense individuals on the team. He wanted to wreck the weight room everyday, and he absolutely did that. In the pool, he pushed himself to a point of exhaustion on a daily basis. As a 2-meter player, Sven was going to force his opponent into a physical battle that left little room for mercy. There is no complacency in Sven’s world, it’s full throttle 100% of the time. That attitude fueled Sven’s appetite to chase challenges. Tackling a tough major in public health, while bringing athletic intensity to his team, tabbed Davidson as one of the leaders of the team. I look forward to see what challenge Sven wants to tackle next, and I look forward to adding him to our Alumni.
Head Coach Marc Hunt
Davidson was a strong role model for the team by playing hard and pushing everyone around him to play hard too. In the weight room Davidson would take pride in lifting heavy things. As a coach I really enjoyed his company and attitude.
Assistant Coach Bobby McDonald
Sven became an absolute beast, making impressive strength gains in his time at UCI. He was an excellent role player and could take a beating for the sake of his team’s victory. Despite fulfilling constantly changing roles, he was always ready and could adapt on a moment’s notice.
Assistant Coach Greg Haynes
Sven made the team better each day learning and improving. He challenged his team to measure up during practice and relished the role of causing changes in game momentum by toughening up the defense when they needed it most. Sven could be counted on during critical moments, a great attribute for an athlete.
