UNOFFICIAL VISITS

An unofficial visit is when a prospective student-athlete pays his/her own way to visit a campus. You may take an unlimited number of unofficial visits to any one campus at any time during your high school career with the exception of the following:

  • Prospective student-athletes may not make unofficial visits to a campus during dead periods (which surrounds the National Letter of Intent signing periods);
  • Men's and Women's Basketball prospective student-athletes may not make unofficial visits during the July evaluation periods.

    During an unofficial visit, an institution is permitted to provide you with a maximum of 3 complimentary admissions to a home athletics event at any facility within a 30-mile radius of the member institution's main campus in which the institution's intercollegiate athletics team practices or competes. Such admissions are for the exclusive use of the prospect and those persons accompanying the prospect on the visit and must be issued on an individual game basis.

    During an unofficial visit, an institution is permitted to provide the prospective student-athlete with transportation to view practice and competition sites in the prospective student-athlete's sport and other institutional facilities and to attend a home athletics contest at any local facility provided an institutional staff member accompanies the prospective student-athlete during the trip. The prospect or the prospect's family must provide all other expenses (transportation other than what is described above, meals, lodging, parking, etc.).
