National Girls & Women in Sports Day on the Horizon

Register for National Girls and Women in Sports Day

Info: NGWSD | UCI Camps and Clinics

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine would like to invite you to participate in National Girls and Women in Sports Day!

Each year, youth from the community come to UC Irvine to experience free fitness clinics run by Anteater student-athletes and coaching staff.  Each participant will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sport-specific clinics on Saturday, February 20th, such as basketball, soccer, track, volleyball, and cheer on and around the UCI athletic facilities.

The celebration was originally started in 1987 as a way to remember former national volleyball player, Flo Hyman, and her athletic accomplishments. It is celebrated across the country as a way of promoting the achievement and participation of female athletics. This being the 30th year of NGWSD, the initiative will follow the theme “Leading The Way” in their efforts next month.

The event concludes with complimentary admission for all participants and their families to the women’s basketball game vs. Cal State Fullerton at 2:00 p.m. Registration is complimentary and open to all youth under 13, however, spaces are limited, so those interested are encouraged to register now at www.ucirvinesports.com/ngwsd16.

UC Irvine fosters an inclusive and supportive campus climate for all students, staff, faculty, and guests, and welcomes any participants to the activities of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
