IRVINE, Calif. --- CoSIDA released its Academic All-District squads recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom, and senior Maritza Acuna scored second team honors on District VIII.

The nursing science major is among 24 players chosen out of the West region of schools split into first and second teams, and is the lone representative of the Big West Conference. Acuna is the fifth Anteater all-time to be voted in joining Kelsey Texeira as 'Eaters to be honored in consecutive years now along with past recipients, Lexi Kopf (2011), Tanya Taylor (2010), and Natalie Franklin (2001). Acuna will be on the Academic All-American ballot to be voted on by CoSIDA and released on later this month.
