Frequently Asked Questions

When does online registration end?
  • Online registration for all camps ends 1 1/2 buisness days prior to the start date of the camp at 9:00am.
    • For camps starting Monday, online registration will end the Thursday before at 11:00am
    • For camps starting on any other day of the week, registration will close the business day before at 8:00am
 Is walk-up registration allowed?
  • Yes. Most of our camps allow walk-up registration 30-45 minutes before the start of the camp.
    • Online registration is highly encouraged prior to check in
    • You can register for as many camps as you like at walk-up registration 
  • Printing & completing the registration forms prior to will help the registration and check in process go faster
  • ONLY CHECKS (made out to UC REGENTS)  & CREDIT CARDS (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, & Discover) will be accepted at time of walk-ups
    • For all WATER POLO camps, only CHECKS will be accepted 
 What if I don't have medical insurance?
  • Parents/Guardians who do not have medical insurance will be responsible for all fees for any type of medical treatment there child/children receive at the camps
  • For the online registration form, please enter in N/A in the medical insurance box (the box needs to have some sort of information to proceed)
Where is check-in & walk-up registration?

When online registration closes, there will be a note on the specific camp website page on location and details for the walk-up registration process 

  • Check in for all camps at the Bren Events Center will take place in the Bren Events Center.
  • Check in for Water Polo Camps will ALWAYS take place at Crawford Pool
    • Only CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED for walk-up registration at the pool
  • Check in for High School Age camps will be held at specific locations depending on location of camp and if the camp is residential/commuter

  • Check in & walk-up registration for the following camps will be held between the Tennis Courts and Baseball Field (unless noted otherwise)

    • Soccer
    • Baseball (Right behind the right-field fence)
    • All-Star
    • Track & Field
    • Tennis
    • Girls Youth Basketball
    • Golf
    • Volleyball Youth & Position Camp 
How do I redeem a Discount (Alumni or Group)
  • To redeem any discounts or group rates, customer must call or email the Camps Office PRIOR to registration. 
  • Registration will take place over the phone  
  • Only 1 discount can be applied to each registration
    • You cannot combine discounts (ie. Discount 2 or more cannot be combined with a Faculty/Staff Discount) 
What does Commuter & Residential mean? 
  • Commuter for a camp means that all participants will be driving back and forth to the camp every day
  •  Residential implies that participants will be staying on camps in the dorms 
    • If campers have someone attending the same camp that they wish to room with, please email the Camps Office at camps@uci.edu. The office will forward the message to the coaches.
What is Extended Care? 
  • Extended Care is a complimentary service for parents that are able to drop their child/children off before a camp begins and pick them up later after the camp ends.
  • It is only available Monday to Friday, 7:30am-9:00am & 3:00pm-5:30pm
  • Extended Care counselors will take your child to the specified camp before it begins. Sport Camp Counselors will take them back to Extended Care once camp is over.
  • There is NO extended care available for camps that end at 12pm  
  • There is a "Late Pick Fee" for parents who do not pick up their campers by 5:30pm
Where do I park when I drop off/pick up my child? Is there a fee to park?
  • All parking for camps will take place at the Mesa Parking Structure (100 Bren Events Center Drive, Irvine CA)
  • The lower level kiosk will be open to receive/purchase all permits (located off Athletics Drive & Mesa Rd) 
  • For all summer camps, parents/ receive a complimentary 30 minute parking permit (parents/guardians must receive one to drop off & to pick up)
  • If parents/guardians wish to stay longer than 30 minutes, a parking permit must be purchased at the kiosk 
    • $2 per hour or $10 per day 
What is the Refund/Transfer Policy?

REFUNDS

  • All refund requests are subject to a 10-25% cancellation fee
  • Refund requests should be emailed to camps@uci.edu at least 1 business day prior to the start date of the camp
  • No refunds will be processed after the start of the camp

TRANSFERS

  • Any transfer request must be done within the same camp season (June-August) within the same sport
  • All transfer requests should be emailed to camps@uci.edu at least 1 business day prior to the start of the camp
    • For any transfers where the new camp is more than the previous camp, then the difference must be paid prior to attending the camp 
Is lunch provided?
  • Lunch is included for all Full Day Youth Campers.
What does pool activities mean?
  • Most of our full day youth camps offer the option for campers to take an hour break to swim at Crawford Pool
  • Lifeguards will be on duty for all campers 
  • Campers are not REQUIRED to swim
  • Please provide swimsuits starting first day of camp because camps will start swimming on the first day
What should I pack for my child and what is required for every sport camp?

ALL CAMPS RECOMMEND THAT CAMPERS BRING A WATER BOTTLE (water available for refilling purposes), SUNSCREEN, BACKPACK, SNACKS. PLEASE MARK ALL EQUIPMENT AND GEAR WITH CAMPER'S FIRST & LAST NAME. MOST YOUTH SPORTS DO NOT REQUIRE CAMPERS TO KNOW HOW TO PLAY EVERY SPORT.  

BASEBALL CAMP:

  • Players are highly encouraged to bring their own equipment (Glove, bat, helmet, cleats, etc) 
  • There will be some equipment for loan but not guarateed 
  • Players are not required to wear cleats and pants, but it is highly recommended
  • No swimming gear is needed, baseball camp does not swim
  • Lunch is included or campers can bring their own lunch.

ALL STAR SPORTS CAMP:

  • All campers may wear comfortable athletic clothing 
  • Swimming gear (suits, sandals, towels & goggles if needed)
  • Lunch is included or campers can bring their own lunch.

BASKETBALL CAMP:

  • Campers do not need to bring a basketball, basketballs will be provided for use
  • Campers should wear athletic shoes that will not mark the gym floor (No black bottom shoes) 
  • Swimming gear (suits, sandals, towels, & goggles if needed) 
  • Lunch is included for Boys Basketball Camp/Elite Camp or campers can bring their own lunch. 

SOCCER CAMP:

  • All soccer campers should wear cleats, shinguards & comfortable, athletic clothing
  • Youth campers must bring their own soccer ball (write name on it) & swimming gear (suits, sandals, towels & goggles if needed)
    • Lunch is included for all full day youth campers or campers can bring their own lunch.
TENNIS CAMP:
  • Campers MUST have their own tennis raquet at the start of camp
    • NO raquetball raquets will be allowed 
  • Swimming gear (suits, sandals, towels, & goggles if needed) 
  • Lunch is included or campers can bring their own lunch. 

GOLF CAMP:

  • Campers should bring their own clubs, however limited equipment is available for loan
  • On Fridays, the camp will play a 9-hole course at a local course. 
  • No lunch time will be given since camp ends at 12

WATER POLO CAMP:

  • Campers may wear their normal swim gear
  • Campers should have a good swimming ability to participate in the camp and some knowledge of the sport
  • No lunch time will be given since camp ends at 12pm

VOLLEYBALL CAMP:

  • Campers should wear comfortable athletic gear and athletic shoes (No black bottom shoes)
  • Youth Camps only: Swimming gear (suits, sandals, towels, & goggles if needed) 
  • Camp is held primarily indoors, but there could be a possibility of going outdoors on grass courts on Crawford Field
  • No lunch time will be give since camp ends at 1pm. Campers should bring a snack.
  •  Lunch is not provided for the Position Camps. Campers must bring their own lunch 

ELITE SPEED/THROWS CAMP CAMP:

  • These camps give an introduction to all the areas of track and field. Personal equipment is not necessary
  • Elite Speed: On the last day, the track meet allows campers to be competitive in a fun enviornment. Campers complete in a variety of events and parents are highly encouraged to attend
  • No lunch time will be given since the camps end at 12pm

OVERNIGHT RESIDENTIAL CAMPS:

  • Campers staying in the dorms will be provided one pillowcase, two sheets, one blanket, one towel and one wash cloth
  • Campers can bring whatever necessities they need to stay in the forms
    • Blankets, pillows, extra change of clothes pajamas, shower sandals, shower supplies, snacks, drinks, extra money, etc. 
  • Campers will be supervised at all times by camp counselors. Counselors stay in the dorms as well.
  • The dorms are co-ed, but the rooms are not. Girls will be paired together based on age and boys will be paired together based on age
    • If campers wish to room with their friend, please email the camps office when registered to make those accommodations.
What if my child needs special medical attention/treatment throughout camp?
  • If your child needs medical accommodations, please contact our office as soon as you register or before the camp starts. We will contact our medical trainer to inform them of the special requirements needed
  • The medical trainer will also be at check-in on Monday mornings available to speak with parents/guardians regarding any medical conditions
Will I be notified before the camp starts of what to do and what to bring?
  • A confirmation email will be sent to the email on the account 2-5 days before the camp begins
  • These emails will provide all information needed to know for the specific sports camp (check in, parking, location, times, etc)
